The Rebellious Miss Breed: Writing is Rebellious

Throughout the Fall, the San Diego Public Library will be hosting a variety of programs and events reflecting on the experience of Japanese Americans during and after World War II, raising awareness and encouraging discussion of historical and contemporary issues faced by marginalized voices.

Find more information on their programs here: https://www.sandiego.gov/missbreed.

Select branches of the Fresno County Public Library will be participating in a postcard writing program in recognition of former San Diego Public Library librarian, Clara Breed, as she exchanged postcards with many of her patrons that were incarcerated in internment camps throughout the United States during and after World War II. We will share additional information about where you can read postcards written by SDPL patrons, as well as where children can get their own postcards to write. These will be sent to San Diego for their library patrons to read.
