Fresno County Public Library: Walk to Mordor Challenge

April 1st-May 31st, 2021, please join us on our Walk to Mordor (inspired by the Fellowship's journey in J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings).

Find full details for the program here:

Please note: You do *not* need to register for this program.
Just keep track of your physical activity every day and convert that into walking miles. Then, once you've reached one of the milestones, submit your miles to claim a commemorative button corresponding to the Middle Earth location you've "reached."
At the end of the challenge, the 20 people who have traveled the farthest will be entered into a special prize drawing.

Please note: Although we are calling this "A Walk to Mordor," one need not walk to be able to participate. The Fellowship didn't have bicycles or wheelchairs, but we know many in our local communities either prefer to or must travel using these means. We have provided for converting non-walking physical activities into walking miles (more information at the website linked above).

Whether you hope to reach specific fitness goals (or possibly burn off a few Second Breakfasts or Elevenses), fight some “personal demons” (anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, etc.), or simply share a virtual connection with others who have chosen to go on this journey, we invite you to join us on our quest and earn some fun rewards for your hard work.
