Win it Wednesday: The Cartographer's Daughter

Every Wednesday we will give away a new book. For a chance to win, just fill out the form at the bottom of the page and you'll be entered into a drawing. The drawing will run from Wednesday through 11:59 PM Friday and winners will be announced on Mondays. (Note: you must be a Fresno County resident to be eligible for Win it Wednesdays.)

The Cartographer's Daughter by Ellie Kiran Millwood Hargrave

They say the day the Governor arrived, the ravens did too. All the smaller birds flew backward into the sea, and that is why there are no songbirds on Joya. Only huge, ragged ravens. . .

It's true that the island Isabella calls home has no songbirds. And the Governor forbids travel beyond the forest that separates their village from the rest of the island. It is for their own good, he says.

But for Isabella, the legends of her island home, and of the girl-warrior Arinta, have always felt like more than just stories. When a series of mysterious events shakes the community, Isabella--daughter to the island's only mapmaker--volunteers to lead a party of explorers into the forest in search of answers. As they venture deeper into the island, dark secrets begin to surface, and the legends Isabella has listened to all these years begin to come to life.

Update: Diana K. will soon be enjoying this new book! Check back this Wednesday for a new giveaway.
